Director of Sales & Marketing Presents at Metropolitan Senior Network Meeting

Portland, Ore. (Sept. 3, 2024) – Director of Sales & Marketing Jeff Houghtaling, PhD, at West Hills Village Senior Residence, presented at the Metropolitan Senior Network (MSN) monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care at Laurelhurst in Portland, OR. Jeff presented on “Technology for Older Adults” and shared how advancements in technology can help older adults experience social connection, reduce loneliness, stay safe, and find support for their mental and physical well-being.

In his presentation, Jeff said, “The pervasive nature of artificial intelligence (AI) in our communication is inspiring. I was excited to share the latest innovations from virtual reality, video communication technology, robotics, and much more designed to help older adults stay connected with their families and friends while promoting safety wherever they choose as home. These benefits of technology should inspire and motivate us to continue exploring its potential.”

The goal of MSN is to educate, support, and provide resources to marketing and community relations professionals in the healthcare and senior industry. At their monthly meeting, Jeff also spoke about ElliQ, an AI-powered care companion designed by Intuition Robotics. ElliQ is a highly intelligent robot that enhances independence and wellness for seniors in their homes. Jeff shared that he is continually impressed by this innovative product. “I am still in awe of the possibilities for social connection, entertainment, and countless other advantages ElliQ offers. Research continues to demonstrate the significant role that digital communication technologies can play in fostering meaningful social connectedness and interaction, particularly in the later stages of life.”
