Carnival Fundraiser Benefits Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon

West Hills Village Senior Residence and Health & Rehabilitation Center raised over $2,000.

PORTLAND, Ore. (Aug. 7, 2012) – More than 100 guests attended the second annual Carnival Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon event held Sat., July 21. The event, sponsored by West Hills Village Senior Residence, West Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center, American Medical Response, Home Matters Caregiving, Infinity Rehab, and Signature Hospice, Home Health and Home Care, rose over $2,000. All of the proceeds will benefit the Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon.

The carnival was enjoyed by residents and employees of West Hills Village Senior Residence and West Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center, families, neighbors, and the greater community.  Featured events included live music by Nehemiah Brown, basket raffles comprised of gift certificates, donated goods, services and beautiful baskets, and face painting from UB Painted.  A Penny Drive was held to see who would go in the dunk tank, raising $150. Over 15 midway games were played by attendees including dime toss, cake walk, balloon darts, spill the milk, and others. Carnival food favorites included pulled pork sandwiches, corn dogs, elephant ears, shaved ice, cotton candy and popcorn.

“The associates of West Hills Village Senior Residence, a Platinum Service® community, embrace being good stewards of the environment and being role models both at work and in the greater community. To that end, we were pleased to align our efforts and bring needed visibility to the Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon,” states Darrin Buckner, executive director of West Hills Village Senior Residence.  “We thank all of our residents, family members, associates, and community partners who donated their time and resources to create such a successful event.”

The Carnival Fundraiser was also made possible with support from sponsors Metrowest, Retirement Connection Guide, Threadgill Memorial Services, Marquis at Home, Dr. Almira Ko, Healthnet, Home Instead Senior Care-SW, Humana, Serenity Hospice, and Visiting Angels.  Carnival vendors included Kumo Acupuncture, Designs by Kenny, massage therapist David Klick, along with many volunteers from various communities and professionals in senior housing.
